How did the Rands get
to Alabama in 1826?
DID YOU KNOW...?
by Cousin Martha
Cousin
Frank R. King, a merchant in Leighton, Alabama, got worried. It happened
around the turn of the last century.
He was noticing how Colbert County old-timers had either moved away or
were gone to a greater reward. Frank took it upon himself to ask any-
and everyone to commit their memories of old-time Leighton and
LaGrange to the written word. He even wrote to the folks who'd moved away. The
answers are archived in the Leighton Library.
The
son of Hartwell King II and Mary Henderson Smith, thus the grandson
of Hartwell King and BURCHET CURTIS, Frank King married Imogene White. Frank and Imogene
were the parents of six children: Walter White King, Mary Lucile King,
Paul Abernathy King, Imogene White King, James Hartwell King, and Lawrence
Henderson King.
Cousin
Frank was born
in 1859 and passed away in 1939.
