This photo--probably from a tintype--dates at about 1855, as she
was 70 at the time. From the set of her mouth, it appears
she may have suffered a stroke. Yet she lived to 87.
Burchet spent many years as a widow, surrounded by her children and
grandchildren.
Her
latter days, she lived with her daughter, Ann LaFayette King Goodwin, the
widow of Col. Edward Goodwin.
The colonel died during the Civil War, but
not as a result of a battlefield wound, per se.
He died on 25 Sept 1863, while attending
a courtmartial in Columbus, Mississippi.
