Major Discovery for Descendants of 'ANN RAND ALSBROOK'

One of the more interesting aspect to this very interesting reunion was a presentation by Kathleen Rand Reed, M.A.A., anthropologist and geneticist, where she identified (Caucasian) William Harrison 'Hal'” Rand's mixed-race love as a HALF SISTER to my g-g-grandmother, Sarah Ann 'Sallie' Mullens.

Going on oral history as given to her by her mother, who got it from her father (Ezekial 'Zeke' Rand), who got it from his father (Richard “Dick”Rand, son of Hal Rand and the lady usually referred to as Ann Alsbrook Rand or Ann Rand Alsbrook), Kathleen believes Ann was the daughter of James R. Mullens (white man) and a free woman of color, Pearl LeMoyne.

This would make ANN a half sister to my g-g-grandmother, Sarah Ann “Sallie” Mullens, Hal's white wife. Hal’s ladies were SISTERS, okay—half sisters. This is something I’ve long suspected.

This is a major discovery for Ann’s descendants, as it expands their family tree by many generations through the Mullens family.
